CIMIC support for schools in Gorgan and Moqam Kalay, Dand district

The school located in the village of Moqam Kalay, Dand Disctrict, underwent major repairs on March 15th 2011. An afghan contractor and local workers were hired to repair the front gate, dig a well, paint the interior and exterior, install new doors and windows, and gravel the school grounds. The repairs, worth approximately 25 000 USD came from the US Commanders Emergency Response Program (CERP) and the Commenader Contingency Funds (CCF), are scheduled to be completed by April 7th 2011 so an average of 80 kids from the adjacent village will be able to receive an education. Task Force Kandahar will continue robust security operations in conjunction with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GIRoA), Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), and its coalition and civilian partners in order to eliminate insurgent violence and set the conditions for successful and sustainable governance, development and peace in Southern Afghanistan.
